One time when I was younger, I remember a particular argument between two females at my high school. Things began slowly with an argument over the actual issue at hand, but they soon escalated (as they always seem to do) to the level of personal slanderous comments. A threshold was soon reached in which one girl called the other a ‘bitch:’ it was completely and utterly down hill from there.
The other day two girls at work were talking (I’ll refer to them as J and K for the sake of clarity), and the conversation went something like this:
J: “What is that?”
K: “It’s a -----. Duh stupid.”
J: “Hey, watch it.”
K: “Sorry. Duh Bitch.”
J: “That’s better.”
Of course they both promptly walked away and everything was fine. Does anybody understand the inconsistancy between the first paragraph and what I’ve just written? I didn’t at first, and then it hit me.
Because of the difference between my present digs and the place I made residence for the first 22 years of my life, I have decided today to give you, the valued reader, a lesson in Slander: The Metropolitan Comradery.
Nigger
Pronounced: Nigga
- A term of friendship but only when spoken by an “African American.”* Note: If a white guy, such as myself, were to even mutter that word in the presence of a black person, I would then be labeled a racist and probably chased down and beaten as I cried like the little girl that I am.
It should be brought to the attention of the reader at this point that this word is a word that many of the African American persuasion have worked long and hard to eradicate but is most prevalently persevered by their own race.
Bitch
Pronounced: Just like it looks, but probably with some attitude.
- A term of endearment among young women of the city.** Note: Again, if I were to use this (even as a term of endearment) towards a lady, she would either fight me herself or get one of her male friends to shoot me. Either way I would end up pretty S.O.L........I me, I would probably kick some ass.
’Slang for the male genitalia’
Pronounced: I’ll spare you the formalities.
- A joking term of friendship. Usually used to denote the underhandedness of the recipient of said slander. Most always said with a smile.
It is a little humorous how different things are sometimes.
Thanks for stopping by…I know I sure enjoyed it.
* African American Applies to everyone it seems. From someone who is a white and black mix to someone who is simply black to someone who is actually from Africa and resides in America. I am sure that I could make a case for my African American Ethnicity however weak it may be.
** Young women of the city can apply to women of any nationality, but I have observed this particular action most in Latinos and blacks.
