An Afterschool Movie

My life is the weaker version of someone's life who is really great. What do men who are really great have going for them? This:

  1. Good looks
  2. A lot of money
  3. Influence
  4. Like-ability
  5. A significant other
  6. A life

Now...I'd like to take a look at what I have in contrast to this:

  1. Mediocre looks at best...and some mornings...well that would be great.
  2. A Ford Probe
  3. A dog that sort of listens
  4. I laugh a lot...does this count?
  5. A dog that sort of listens
  6. nothing for this category

So, I think we can understand a few things...my life is mediocre at best. My life is the kind of life that people make movies about...not like those great awe-inspiring movies...not those great laugh-a-minute movies...but the kind of movie that is on Sunday nights on TV with some silly name like: Luke Snyder: A Tragedy Waiting to Happen. That's depressing. Plus you'd have to watch previews for the movie every commercial break on USA. That's right, you heard me...USA. My tragedy isn't even good enough to make it onto ABC.

For many years of my life, I have decieved myself...thinking that I am individual and that my life doesn't count in the grand scheme...well i am here to tell you that my life does matter...everyone's does. See, my life matters because without it, you wouldn't be able to say, "Well, atleast it isn't that bad!" as you point the finger of shame. Sure, my home is middle class, and my parents love me...I am not failing in that area...but is the subject of one of those movies ever failing there? No, he lives in a great home...just like me until one day he comes home and his parents say, "Luke, we love you, but you have to understand that you are too young to be taking birth control pills to avoid pregnancy." What?!?!?! That doesn't even make sense. Well, now you understand why my life sucks.

So, in closing we have to look at the big picture. When God was creating everyone, he created everyone with a purpose...some he created with the purpose of living a grand life, while others he created with the purpose of reflecting these great lives back at those who are great. I have come to understand that someday I will have a lame made-for-TV, afterschool special, Sunday night movie mini-series made about my life...or atleast some life like mine. Just remember that when you watch the whole thing and at the point where the mother turns to her child and say, "You're socially retarded, and well...quite frankly, we're ashamed of you." you can understand that the life they are modeling is mine. A life where the greatness is reflected and the hemaphrodite-like, homosexual, loud, obnoxious, beligerant, self-doubting, gambling, nose-picking, grasshopper-killing traits are kept to rot inside my existence.

For those of you who had the exquisite chance of reading my Thoughts on Reality...you obviously understand that this is a far cry from that. Well, let's just say that I've opened my eyes...I had to sometime right?

Thanks for stopping by...I know I sure enjoyed it.
